gratitude

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving in the USA. For a while, it’s been my favorite holiday, and not because of the food. (As a child I pretty much only ate the mashed potatoes—no gravy—and even now, I’m not a fan of such Thanksgiving staples as pumpkin pie.) So, it’s not about that, although in some ways, it is since I would feel weird if we went the day without a turkey.

I guess, quite simply, I just like the fact that we set aside a day to be grateful. I’m not interested in celebrating the history of Thanksgiving, because that’s problematic. But I’m big time into gratitude and appreciation.

What am I grateful for?

More things than I can count. But some of the basics are:

I’m grateful for my family. We are small but close-knit.

I’m grateful for my friends. Who are astonishingly amazing.

I’m grateful for the opportunities and education I have. I’m grateful for time. I’m grateful for the gorgeous place we live.

I’m grateful that so many creative people have chosen to share their gifts with the world.

What are you grateful for?
